IKA launches the INC 125 FCS digital: A new benchmark for cooling and shaking incubation

 

IKA is expanding its portfolio of temperature chambers with an environmentally friendly and resource-saving cooling and shaking incubator

Staufen, Germany — IKA is expanding its successful INC 125 series with the INC 125 FCS digital, a next‑generation cooling and shaking incubator designed to deliver maximum flexibility, precise temperature control, and outstanding ease of use for demanding life science applications. With its patented, tool‑free removable shaker platform, the new model offers an unprecedented combination of shaking performance and spacious incubation capacity.

Two devices in one: cooling incubator and shaker combined

At the heart of the INC 125 FCS digital is its patented shaker platform, which users can remove without tools. This innovation enables the unit to function either as a high‑performance cooling incubator or as a shaking incubator, depending on the workflow. When the shaker platform is taken out, the chamber can be fully utilized with up to six shelves, offering one of the largest usable volumes in its class at 125 liters.

The integrated shaker supports speeds from 10 to 300 rpm with a 20 or 25 mm shaking stroke, ensuring efficient oxygen transfer for cell cultivation and microbiological protocols. A safety interlock automatically stops shaking when the door is opened.

 

Precision temperature control from 5 to 80 °C

The INC 125 FCS digital ensures highly stable and uniform temperature conditions, an essential feature for reproducible results in microbiology, cell culture, and stability testing. Its sophisticated cooling system uses natural refrigerant R290, delivering strong performance while meeting IKA’s goals for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

  • An interior made of corrosion‑resistant AISI 304 stainless steels with smooth, easy‑to‑clean surfaces and rounded corners
  • A defrost function with continuous drainage prevents ice formation and reduces the accumulation of condensation in the interior
The shaker platform can be pulled out halfway for secure loading, and its threaded grid supports a variety of clips and mats for different vessel formats.

 

Intuitive control with reproducible workflows

A large, high‑contrast LCD screen provides clear access to temperature, shaking, and timing parameters. The unit supports multiple operating modes, counters, and timers to ensure repeatable experimental conditions. Shaking and temperature functions can be operated independently, giving users complete procedural freedom.

 

Flexible system expansion

Up to two IKA incubators can be safely stacked (cooling unit at the bottom) using optional accessories, making the INC 125 FCS digital suitable for labs with limited space but high throughput demands.
