    ORGANIC ELECTRONICS

    Organic polymers and materials, graphene, 2D materials, perovskites are frequently used as active layers of electronic devices in organic electronics, optoelectronics, printed electronics, flexible electronics and nanosciences in general.

    The thin film technologies applied to these components are carried out in controlled atmosphere glove boxes with an oxygen and moisture content of less than 1 ppm. The development of these devices requires the integration of specific instruments such as thin film deposition apparatus, spin coaters, slot die coaters, inkjet printers, sub-point stations, solar simulators, ovens.

    We designs and manufacture glove boxes with gas purifiers for the fabrication, characterization and testing of organic components such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs), organic transistors, organic semiconductors, photodetectors, biosensors.

    PHOTOVOLTAIC CELLS

    Glove boxes for photovoltaic cells under controlled atmosphere have become indispensable tools in the preparation, development and characterization of all kinds of photovoltaic cells, in particular the so-called 3rd generation thin film cells: dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC), organic solar cells (OPVs), quantum dots solar cells (QDSC), but also naturally perovskite structure cells (PSC).

    Since 2012, when researchers were able to manufacture thin-film perovskite structure cells, never before has a photovoltaic cell had such a rapid rise in power conversion efficiency (PCE). Perovskites are materials that have the same crystal structure as the mineral calcium titanium oxide (CaTiO3). The perovskite crystals are known for their superconductivity. In addition to their ability to absorb light in almost all visible wavelengths, their advantages over conventional silicon cells are flexibility, semi-transparency, low weight and thin film. Scientists are also combining perovskite solar cells with silicon solar cells, known as nanostructured tandem solar cells, which is helping to break energy conversion efficiency records.

    THIN LAYER DEPOSITION
    Joule vacuum evaporation frames integrated in a glove box under controlled atmosphere are useful in the deposition of thin layers of metallic materials (Au, Pt, Ti, Cr, Al, Li…) and oxides (SiO2, HfO2, Al2O3, …). These thermal evaporators are widely used for metallization, e.g. for photovoltaic cells and detectors, for electrode deposition (ohmic contacts), e.g. for batteries and OLED organic electronics and for refractory thin films and optical layers.


    OLEDS
    Organic semiconductors find their applications in various components such as light emitting diodes (LEDs, OLEDs), organic photovoltaic cells (OPV), organic transistors (OFETs), memories or sensors.

    ENERGIES

    Glove boxes are an essential tool in the development and manufacture of batteries, energy conversion and storage and electrochemistry.

    The materials used in the development of batteries (Lithium-ion, sodium, all-solid technologies …), supercapacitors, microbatteries, fuel cells etc. must be implemented in controlled atmospheres free of H2O, O2 and N2. Jacomex designs and manufactures glove boxes with nitrogen/argon purifiers for experiments under controlled atmospheres with an oxygen and moisture content of less than 1 ppm.
